Silver Jewellery Treats & Sparkles

From: 22nd October 2021

Autumn is my favourite time of year – crisp, colder days with beautiful bright sunshine, frosty nights where you can snuggle inside with fires and friends. Nature always fills me with awe at the colours of falling leaves as everything gets ready to sleep over winter.

I also love the fun events in late Autumn – the perfect excuse to dress up (fancy dress or otherwise) and meet with friends for some much needed fun.

It all starts with Halloween, I always used to love taking by two boys trick or treating (just to the few neighbours who live close to use but the perfect excuse to don a witch’s hat and have a glass of wine and a chat at every house) Now those days are long gone, it is fun to have an ‘adults’ Halloween party and pretend we are kids again! With carved pumpkins, (very therapeutic and much better designs than my boys ever did) spooky food choices (I love lychees dyed with red food colouring in my glass of fizz which look scarily like eyeballs!) a few cobwebs, spiders and candles and the scene is set. All you need to sort now is your outfit. You can go full fancy dress and make up or opt for a more understated look, and we think jewellery is the perfect little addition to make you just scary enough.

So, ‘treat’ yourself to some of our scarily beautiful Halloween jewellery which is also perfect to wear all the year round. We’ve got some fabulous spooky silver jewellery designs; all you need is to be creative and make your accessories work with your chosen look.

Skulls and Skeletons are striking Halloween symbols because they are a stark reminder of death. Skeletons remind us that Halloween has always been a holiday about the dead. (how lovely!)

Samhain, a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season on 31st October and beginning of winter or "darker-half" of the year, was also a time of year linked with human death. It was a time when some believed the ghosts of the dead returned to Earth.

In Mexico they celebrate the Days of the Dead (Días de los Muertos) on the Christian holidays All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day (November 1 and 2) instead of Halloween. People dress up like skeletons and ghouls and parade down the street and sugar skull candies are part of this Mexican tradition. We have some wonderful handmade skull silver jewellery coming to our collection soon. So watch out for my updates.

So, a silver skull pendant and earrings – what could add to your Halloween look better? Simple and to the point these exquisitely designed silver and cubic zirconia pendant and earrings are just wonderful for Halloween and every other day too! Handmade and rhodium plated to prevent tarnishing, they add a little bit of sparkle to your Halloween look but also look great with leather boots and a warm autumn jumper. The skull pendant looks fabulous worn on a long silver chain over dark colours to make it really stand out.

Halloween also wouldn’t be Halloween without some snakes, cats and owls too.

Owls are popular Halloween symbols, originally because in medieval times, owls were believed to be witches, and if you heard the call of an owl, it meant that someone was about to die. We have a couple of silver owl pendants, one with a dancing central stone which catching the light and moves as you do.

Black cats are another symbol of the spooky side of Halloween: if a black cat crosses your path, you’ll be cursed with bad luck. In the Middle Ages, many people believed that witches avoided detection by turning themselves into black cats reinforcing the belief that black cats were definitely bad luck. We love cats though, so this is a great piece of jewellery to add to your Halloween look but also you can treasure for it for ever more. One of our silver pendants has two little cats – one micro-set with black cubic zirconia and one with clear stones. Maybe the clear cubic zirconia cat can cancel out the back luck!

For some reason snakes too are associated with Halloween. They are often found winding around a bowl of goodies for trick or treaters or incorporated into costumes. Remember Medusa with her hair of snakes? Although snakes are not a key Halloween animal, they are popular on Halloween probably because of how much we all fear them.

You couldn’t be frightened of our cute little snake earrings and necklace though, set with sparkling cubic zirconia and adding just a touch of Halloween to your look. Dainty and cute enough to wear all the year round which gives you the perfect excuse to buy them. Our handmade silver bangle that snakes around your wrist would also be perfect.

No Halloween tale is complete without a reference to the moon. Whether it’s peeking out from behind a sky of misty clouds on an eery evening or shining bright, the moon is essential to completing the Halloween experience. Luckily, these silver jewellery pieces are so beautiful that you can wear them anytime. Our witchy silver crescent moon earrings and pendant are the perfect addition, shining out against your black witchy look.

We only just get over the excitement of Halloween and we have another excuse for a party – bonfire night. Love or hate fireworks, there is no better excuse to get together around a roaring bonfire with friends on a crisp autumn night, to drink hot soup, eat hotdogs and have some fun. I think Bonfire Night is amongst the most magical dates in our calendar and I have always loved having a party to celebrate.

Bonfire Night or the 5th of November marks the evening when Guy Fawkes and 12 other men planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament and for over 400 years, we have burned bonfires and lit fireworks to celebrate the failed Gunpowder Plot. Up until 1959 it was illegal not to celebrate Bonfire night! Who knew that?

We’ve had our spooky, witchy look and now its time to choose some silver jewellery to add that extra sparkle to your bonfire night. Capture some of the mesmerising magic of Bonfire Night in your outfit with our selection of silver stars, moons and firework jewellery - adding that little bit of glitz and turning almost as many heads as the fireworks themselves.

Our handmade silver and cubic zirconia jewellery designs are inspired by the grace and beauty of fireworks exploding with a multitude of sparkling stars falling through the darkness of the sky. I love our Starburst ring and necklace which really do look like rockets illuminating the sky. If you perfect something a little more delicate then how about our shooting stars collection of bracelet, earrings, necklaces and a ring?

Our handmade Fireworks silver earrings and bracelet really make a statement too and are inspired by the wonderful shapes created when fireworks show their full glory.

I’ve talked about events that help us celebrate this wonderful time of year, but how about some jewellery to just remind us of the glory of nature in Autumn. Leaves and trees with leaves in rich oranges, red and yellows are perfect and we have a selection of silver jewellery designs which help keep you in touch with nature and the changing seasons around us. I love our tree of life inspired silver pendants and our design with beautiful rose gold leaves is perfect for this time of year as is our Celestial Pendant with either a yellow or rose gold plated tree design which is always one of our most popular pieces.

If you prefer just the leaves to the full tree of life then why not take a look at our copper and silver leaf earrings or our maple leaf collection, handmade in sterling silver and plated with 18 carat yellow gold, a perfect autumn colour. This would make a great jewellery gift for someone who loves Autumn or has an Autumn birthday.

And… don’t think all the fun, celebration and partying ends with Bonfire night. Dare I say it in October, but Christmas is just around the corner and this year, more than any, is a time to go wild, sparkle like a Christmas tree and choose jewellery that makes you feel extra special at all those Christmas parties, family celebrations or quiet nights by the fire in the pub with a group of friends.
