Birth Flower Jewellery - Friendship, Joy & Happiness

Did you know that every month has a flower that symbolises the month of somebody's birth and that like birthstones, each one has a special meaning? In Ancient Rome, where the idea of birth flowers originated, seasonal flowers were given as gifts at birth and on birthdays. As time went by, the flowers that were most commonly in bloom in a given month became that month's birth flower. For example, daisies in April, lily of the valley in May and of course, we are currently in November and chrysanthemums are November's birth flower.

November’s birth flower is the bright and cheerful chrysanthemum which signifies happiness, optimism and love. According to Feng Shui, chrysanthemums bring happiness and laughter into a house.  They come in a wide range of sizes and colours including pinks, oranges, whites and reds. The flower name is taken from the Greek word for gold (“chrysos”) and the word for flower ("anthos") and, among other things, was traditionally a symbol of wisdom.

Chrysanthemums are also a symbol of the sun and have held many noble positions in ancient cultures. The Japanese consider the orderly unfolding of their petals to represent perfection, and Confucius suggested they be used as an object of meditation.
