Trend for Friendship Bracelets
A friendship bracelet is a bracelet given by one person to another as a symbol of friendship.
They are usually made from embroidery floss or thread. According to Native American tradition, which is where the art of weaving and tying the bracelets originates, the recipient of a friendship bracelet must wear it until the cords wear out and fall off naturally. The idea is that the friend paid for it with the hard work and love that made it, and the recipient repays the friend by honouring the work. Removing the bracelet before it falls off naturally is said to be a sign that the friendship has turned sour.
First popular in the USA in the 1970s, little girls have been making them for their best friends ever since. Currently, friendship bracelets are enjoying a revival. New and extensive designs are available and in addition to the traditional style of using simply thread, modern friendship bracelets incorporate crystals, silver, silk and sparkle. Even though you no longer have the hard work of creating the bracelet yourself, the sentiment behind them is still the same and these contemporary versions are being given to friends all around the world.
We have launched our own range of friendship bracelets, with each one being beautifully hand-made using silk threads, sterling silver beads and coloured cubic zircona beads for sparkle and interest.
Friendship bracelets can be worn individually or why not try several together? Every friend should have one.
