Men who are looking to buy an engagement ring for a partner should ensure that they get the size right.
Peter Vidovic, a spokesperson for FinalStitch.co.uk, said that most brides-to-be drop hints about the type of ring they would like, however, the practicalities of ensuring a good fit were just as important.
"One bride admitted that she had bought a new bridal set after her engagement ring, which she'd had for 14 years, simply wouldn't fit with a wedding band," he added.
He went on to say that money was not mentioned as being a key factor in choosing an engagement ring, with one bride on the FinalStitch forums stating that hers "barely cost anything".
However, it served the purpose of bringing back memories of choosing the silver ring with her partner and him getting down on one knee to propose.
According to a report from Wedding Ideas, whirlwind romances account for 6.84 per cent of engagements less than six months after meeting.
