Silver rings 'alternative' to diamond engagement gift
Men looking for an engagement ring for the love of their life have been told that symbolism should be the key.
A guide written for NewYorkNewsBreak.com said that expensive diamond rings do not always have to be bought, as there are a range of choices for those that are wanting to break with tradition.
"The most important aspect for choosing a ring is the symbolism it represents. Rings have long represented a bond between two people. Its shape symbolises the love and commitment meant to last a lifetime," it stated.
The guide went on to say that rings worn on the left ring finger are associated with the direct connection to the heart, which is why it became the traditional digit for wedding rings.
However, the guide stated that a ring does not necessarily have to have a diamond in it to represent those sentiments.
According to a survey by the Houlden Group, 70 per cent of its members said that brides still want quality wedding rings despite financial pressure from the recession.
