Silver earrings 'perfect for on-trend maxi dresses'

Women who are looking to carry off this summer's top trend – maxi dresses – should invest in silver earrings too, according to an expert.

Jess Cartner-Morley, writing for the Guardian, said that it was pointless taking fashion tips from people who look fabulous in anything without having to try, such as Penelope Cruz.

She advised that women should look to take style advice from those who have to work at it, with Coleen Rooney and Victoria Beckham being examples of this.

"Maxi dresses have much to recommend them, but to avoid the nightie trap requires definition. Coleen, who often chooses a maxi dress for 'event' dressing, adds long, dramatic earrings to echo the long line. Watch and learn," she added.

One star who recently showed how good silver earrings can look is Liz Hurley, who was pictured arriving at the theatre with her son sporting a silver satin dress, black peeptoe sandals and dangling jewellery.
