Silver cufflinks 'an integral part of any formal outfit'
Fashion conscious men who are looking to smarten up their appearance for a formal occasion have been told that items such as silver cufflinks are "an integral part" of their outfit.
James Cooper, from Dinner-Suit, said there is a whole range of decorative fasteners available, from gold and silver cufflinks, to novelty and knot variants.
"Cufflink designs vary widely. The simplest design consists of a short post or chain connecting two disc-shaped parts. There are however other styles from T-bar and knot to chainlink cufflinks," he added, while personalised items are also popular to remember an occasion or event.
Mr Cooper added that they first appeared in the 16th century, where cuff openings were held together by cuff-strings, before Louis XIV began to fasten his sleeves with identical pairs of coloured glass buttons linked by a chain.
Recently, fashion icons Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's high-end jewellery line announced that its first male item would be a pair of US$11,000 (£7,425) cufflinks.
