Silver brooches used to 'embellish on the cheap'

Ladies looking to embellish and accessorise their clothing without spending a fortune should buy some silver brooches, according to an industry expert.

Perri Lewis, writing for the Guardian, said that embellishment is "bang on trend" at the moment, and women can work the style on a budget by making their own bows and roses, in conjunction with silver brooches.

"Simple bows allude even the most handy of my friends … I know far too many people who have forked out far too much for them to spruce up an outfit when they could have just whipped one up for themselves," she went on to say.

When making her basic bow, Ms Lewis said that a small piece of fabric, pins, a needle and thread, adhesive and a brooch are the only things that are needed to create the simple embellishment.

Last week, Sex and the City 2 star Kim Cattrall accessorised her 90s Thierry Mugler corseted wrap gown with a silver brooch.
