Young fashion fans are more interested in quality jewellery rather than
high street brands, according to a report.
Retail-Jeweller.com said that there was a time when teenagers were happy
with 'high street costume equivalents'.
However, young people are now becoming as fashion-savvy as their
parents, influenced by TV and music stars.
"We have definitely seen a shift of focus, with younger people swapping
costume for quality jewellery," said Peter Jackson, owner of Peter
Jackson The Jeweller.
Sue Hurst, store manager of Preston's of Bolton, added that teens are
often buying jewellery items by themselves for the first time, so it is
important that they find out what their style is.
Furthermore, teenagers are also willing to pay more for quality items,
rather than just settling for costume jewellery, according to Vicky
Leyshon, head of design for Gecko.
Those looking for silver pendants might want to invest in the tribal
theme, which is currently on trend, according to a report on NWsource.
