Cubic zirconia jewellery fans looking for fashion inspiration have been told to take note of Mary Kate Olsen.

The actress has been described by the fashion section of the Irish Independent as a "modern-day style icon", adding that despite having a whole host of designer labels at hand, she still has a definite look going on.

"She has since cleaned up her act while managing to retain that low-key edge that everyone loves. Her hair is always mussed and textured, make-up is minimal and clothes look 'thrown together'. The one thing that is never minimal is her accessories which are often mismatched and always excessive," fashion fans were told.

The news source went on to say that layered jewellery is a favourite of the star, which could include items such as cubic zirconia pendants.

According to a recent report in Jeweller Magazine, layering and stacking items can add an air of eclecticism to a look.
