The demand for amethyst jewellery pieces will be highlighted when a pendant containing the material goes up for auction in New Zealand.
Hawkes Bay Today reported that the multi-jewelled item, which is laden with 18 pave diamonds, a pink pearl, pink tourmaline, blue topaz and an amethyst, is expected to fetch around NZ$3,000 (£1,350).
Bidding will be carried out on the Trade Me website, while the necklace and pendant will be on display at the Hot Pink Charity Cocktail Party after it has been sold.
Bruce Jackson, creator of the amethyst jewellery piece, said: "It just fits. It's a very wearable piece."
He went on to say that last year's event gave him "a real sense of satisfaction and the warm fuzzies".
Proceeds from the Hot Pink Charity Cocktail Party, which will also see the launch of a new rose wine from 12 of Hawke's Bay's finest wineries, are going towards the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
