Last week’s Arquiva British Academy Television Awards (Baftas) resulted as usual in the media’s frenzied forensic examination of the fashion triumphs and faux pas on the slightly soggy red carpet. Hollywood actress Sienna Miller and television presenter Jenni Falconer were definitely in the former category both dressed in designer chic; Sienna in a powder blue Matthew Williamson lace effect dress whilst Jenni chose a nude lace gown by Alberta Ferretti. But to our minds, it was their clever choice (or that of an astute stylist) to accessorise their outfits with timeless and classic vintage jewellery. Continue reading

Party Jewellery for Christmas 2012
The Party Season Approaches
The party season will soon be upon us (how did that come around again so quickly?) and the age-old dilemma of what to wear to which event will start to consume us all over again.
If you are lucky enough to be going to lots of different types of events from the glitzy work ‘Black Tie Do’ or a friends casual drinks get together, then these nights out all require a different dress code and a different look. Sometimes as we busy ourselves in excitement or panic about what outfit, handbag and shoes to wear we often forget to think about what jewellery we should be wearing until that moment when we are heading out of the door to the waiting cab and we end up just grabbing the first thing out of our jewellery boxes.
To try and help with your jewellery dilemmas and ensure you enjoy the party season and feel your very best, here’s our guide to which jewellery to wear when, to make sure you sparkle your way through Christmas.
Cufflinks – A History of Elegance
Cufflinks, no matter what style or what type of fixing they use, are the most elegant of men’s accessories and add that little touch of personal style and sparkle to any shirt sleeve – formal or casual.
Their history is long and varied and in fact it is thought by the National Cufflink Society that they were actually around even before the shirt itself with images of them appearing in ancient hieroglyphics in King Tut’s tomb.
However, cufflinks as we think of them were first used in the 1700’s. At about this time buttons were no longer used to add decoration to the cuffs but instead cuff fastening slits were cut into the shirt and then the sleeves were simply tied with ribbon or tape ties.
